At Aloha Farms, we have registered Belted Galloway Beef Cows. Belted Galloways ("Belties") are unique cows for several reasons. Read on to find out about a few of their interesting attributes
.
What does long hair have to do with the quality of beef?
A lot! The hardy Belted Galloway’s double coat of long, silky hair provides protection against weather extremes. This results in only ¼” of back fat in Galloway Beef, as opposed to the usual 1” to 2” or more of waste. This also allows the meat to be marbled throughout, resulting in more flavorful beef.
Belted Galloway meat is low in total fat and saturated fat.

Grass-Fed Beef Benefits

Beltie beef is a healthy, flavorful beef. All Aloha Farms Beef is natural and grass-fed. We do not give our animals growth hormones. Our cows are given free access to their pastures and the barn. They can graze in their pasture and we supplement their pasture grass diet with our own hay. Of course we give our cows plenty of attention and they love treats of alfalfa pellets and alfalfa cubes.

Grass-fed beef results in healthy, tender, and flavorful meat. The fat from our Beltie beef will have a more yellow color due to the beta carotene in the cow’s diet. This yellow fat has health benefits to the humans consuming this meat. Some of the benefits of this meat for humans include vitamin A production, prevention of cancer cell growth, and prevention of cardiovascular disease.

We feel it is important to give our animals a good, healthy, and happy life. Yes, our Belties are spoiled and very happy at Aloha Farms!
